AWOL da Mindwriter - Altered Beast / Chaos Control

Experiences haven't been added via Beta Features replacing teachers and even thinking with the latest and greatest in automated language sequences. Meanwhile, it's on/off grid like Woody Harrelson with utility bills sans any semblance of celebrity. Celery was an underrated snack (and it still is) especially eaten out of a crack. Action! When parody suffices for fact, parity is an even more divisive act than what's happened. So, you know, what's happening?

AWOL da Mindwriter hit me with a video off his upcoming album with August Fanon, and now there's another. Another video for an AWOL track produced by August Fanon? Yes, plus the song features Planet Asia, and the video was made by Johnny Storm! (Another album produced by August Fanon? Technically, yes, that too, but not featuring AWOL da Mindwriter, so not really what I'm talking about here, though that perhaps reinforces an earlier point about syntax however pedantic.)

Johnny Storm - 80's Porno Flick

Peeking through oak leaves, a shooting star streaks the sky. I take out my dentures, unfasten her garter. The log in the stove smolders to a cackle, one more explosion of a night filled with them.

Johnny Storm - Lunafreya

Around the 1-minute mark of "Pneuma," the penultimate song on Lunafreya, when the saxophone comes in, that's the sound of the fucking sky opening up, of the sun's heavenly rays parting clouds like Moses did the Red Sea, of all New York going quiet for a quick second as if to ask, "Oh damn, who's that?" That, my friends, is Johnny Storm, and he's about to channel some shit so slick it could've only come direct from that ethereal plane: "My weakness is kept secret, they might use it against me / So I sent it to a realm where the timing is endless / I tell the waiter add some extra truffle on that spaghetti / Yo fuck juice, all we sip is warm water with lemon let's get it." Lunafreya is Johnny Storm's third album since last October and all three have been among his best to date, but this one is truly special. Rosenburg knows.

Some More Gifts from Johnny Storm

"Ghost of P" is off Lyrical Assassin 5. The 2nd joint is unreleased but definitely needs one of those. "Christmas In 99" is a little something from St. Nicholas, who was Black.

Johnny Storm - Blacc Leathers & Gold Chains

According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture Food and Nutrition Service, the agency's School Breakfast Program served over 2.4 billion breakfasts in FY2018. The very inclusion of the letters FY in that stat says a lot. Johnny Storm fka Uncle John fka Sky Walker has been on this site since 2016 and rapping further back than then. Christ Kenneth is a relative newcomer to these pages. I'm not saying this is that, but if Johnny Storm and Christ Kenneth came out as a group called the Free Breakfast for School Children Program, would anyone object? Meantime, Blacc Leathers & Gold Chains is 12 of the most nutritional minutes of rap music you'll hear this fiscal year.

Uncle John - Cold Fish

A cross-island collaboartion to write home about, Cold Fish teams Freeport's Uncle John with Holbrook's Fony Wallace aka Fony47.

The last/first we heard from Fony was on Christ Kenneth's The Abomination of Desolation. Cold Fish presents a similiar afterhours-type atmosphere, but seen through an entirely different lens.

Uncle John has been flooding the net since the early days of this site, but this is definitely a new look for the MC, especially when you compare it with his Lyrical Assassin series, the latest installment of which was produced by FarmaBeats.

Pure, uncut scaly, fresh out the icebox; hopefully, Cold Fish is the first of many collaborations from these two artists.

Uncle John - Lyrical Assassin 2

"I does what I does, I do what I do, aint nothing more / I changed my name from Sky Walker 'cause I went with the force / Now I'm Uncle John..." And with that, the artist formerly known as Sky Walker stakes out new territory with a familial name, a renewed focus and the re-energized bars to go along with it. Lyrical Assassin 2 may be the titular follow up to the last Sky Walker tape, but it's also one of six projects that he's dropped since changing his name last year. A recent signee to Cashius Green's Promisd Land Records, Uncle John has already churned out a mixtape (this one) and an EP (Belly of the Beast) for the label and is now working on an album, so look out for that as well.

Kaotik Ellement - "SACRED GROVE" (Freestyle) ft. Sky Walker

New organics from that tree hugger Kaotik Ellement, whom you ought to have heard on LongIslandRap.Comp V2. Background commentary by his fellow Freeporter Sky Walker.

Sky Walker - A Night In Nirvana

You know how sometimes somebody hits you with a Soundcloud link like, "New tape out," and you say you're going to check it out but you don't see it as imperative or you've got other stuff going on, so you just let it chill for a minute by the wayside, but then when finally you do click that you immediately feel like you're 3 years late even when it's only been 3 weeks since the tape dropped? Yea, this is that. Peace to Sky Walker.

Sky Walker - "武士歌手 Samurai Singers"

The Force Awakes underwhelms, but Sky Walker doesn't. With just one verse over a jazzy loop, the Freeport MC manages to carve out so many consecutive quotables it sounds like his style actually does come from a galaxy far, far away. After streaming "武士歌手 Samurai Singers," download the Soul or System EP from which it's taken.
